What is a Savanna?

Savannas are very warm all year round. They have two seasons, winter, which is usually very dry and long, and summer, which is very wet, meaning there is a lot of rainfall during this season. The average rainfall for winter is four inches. However, there is no rain fall from December to February. Despite this, it is cooler during this season, although the temperature is still close to or around 70 Fahrenheit. During the summer, it is very humid and hot. Because of this, it rains almost everyday for hours at a time. However, not enough rain forms to maintain a healthy forest. The trees in a savanna are spaced far apart, allowing sunlight to reach the ground. There are also more species of plants than animals in savannas.
Would you want to live in a savanna?

  1. We don't think we would want to live in a Savannah area because it is very hot during the summer and we do not like very hot weather. Also, it rains a lot during the summer and i don't enjoy the rain that much. Also the winter is very dry which does not sound very appealing.

  2. I think I might want to live in Savannah area because it is hot all year round. I don't really like the cold and when it gets hot, it rains. This keeps the temperature nice.
